SIMPLE KIND TO SKIN FACIAL WASH| REVIEW

I promised in my updated fungal acne safe skincare routine that I would review each skincare product separately. This post is a quick review of the Simple ‘Kind to Skin’ refreshing facial wash.

Packaging

The packaging is a simplistic green and transparent squeeze bottle. I like such tubes because I am able to use the product almost down to the last drop.

Cost

This 150ml product ranges from kshs 700-1200 depending on where you purchase it from. It should last at least 3 months if you use it twice daily. I’ve had this bottle since the beginning of May and I think it will serve me till the end of September. I consider this one of the more affordable skincare brands available.

Ingredients

This product touts itself as a product with “no artificial perfume or color, no harsh chemicals that can upset your skin, no alcohol, no parabens and no animal derived ingredients. It is labelled as an 100% soap free gel because it does not contain any harsh cleansing agents like sulfates. Instead , cocamidopropyl betaine is the surfactant of choice which is a gentler alternative.

It has only 13 ingredients which is minimalistic. There is panthenol (vitamin B5) which is an effective humectant that draws and maintains moisture in the skin. Another notable ingredient is tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E) that has antioxidant properties.

Effectiveness

The product has a gel- like consistency that lathers quite well when it comes into contact with water. A little goes a long way so you don’t need to use a lot of it. It is a gentle but effective cleanser that can be used twice a day without disturbing your skin barrier. If you wear heavy make-up, a first cleanse with an oil/balm cleanser might be necessary.

I have nothing negative to say about this product. It is fungal acne safe, affordable and gets the job done. However, my ethos when it comes to my fundamental products (cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen) may be different from other people. I prefer for these three to be as basic as possible then I can add separate actives into my routine.

Therefore, this product won’t “fix” your skin. It does not contain any active ingredients that prevent or control acne, hyper-pigmentation or any other concerns. It will cleanse your skin effectively and maintain your skin barrier without stripping it.

Overall rating

I would rate this 5/5. It is an unproblematic product that I have used for years and will continue to recommend to younger and older people alike.

If you’d like to purchase it, it is available at most supermarkets, pharmacies and beauty supply stores. You can also find it on some websites like MyDawa, BeautyClick and Jumia.
