Today I am reviewing the Krave Beauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser which I’ve been using for the last couple of months.
Table of Contents
Packaging
It comes in an 120ml/4 fluid ounce squeeze bottle. I generally like squeeze bottles and pumps provided that they work well.
Cost
It retails at $16( KES 1760) on their website. I purchased it from their website and shipped it in. If you’re in Kenya, some Instagram shops sell it including skinpod.ke.
I’m willing to spend up to $20 on a good cleanser so this is decent.
Scent
It has a very distantly herbal scent to it.. like green tea. It’s barely recognizable but is quite calming.
Consistency
It has a gel-like consistency and is sticky to the touch. When mixed with water, it melts into a very light lather.
Ingredients
This product is vegan and cruelty free. It is free of sulphates, parabens and drying alcohols. The star ingredients include:
- Green tea: antioxidant and anti-inflammatory
- Oat extract: soothing and anti-inflammatory
- Hemp seed oil: nourishing
- Sweet almond oil: nourishing
- Glycerin: hydrating
- Panthenol(vitamin B5): hydrating
- Sodium PCA: hydrating
pH
It is formulated in a pH range of 5.0-6.0 which is good for our acidic skin barrier.
Fungal acne safety
Sadly this product is not 100% fungal acne safe. It contains sweet almond and hemp seed oil which are F.A triggers.
It also has a mild cleansing agent called sodium cocosyl isethionate that is also a potential F.A trigger.
I haven’t been diligent about keeping my routine 100% F.A safe but I haven’t had a full on resurgence as yet.
Sustainability
Following the beginning of my eco-friendly journey, I am trying to purchase from brands that are sustainable.
Krave Beauty was founded by Lia Yoo who has preached about sustainability in the beauty industry for years.
On their website, they share a recycling guide for this product and include details on all the raw materials for the packaging. I appreciate that they go the extra mile to do this.
Overall thoughts
This product is a gentle yet effective cleanser that I am able to use both morning and night. I honestly love this product.
If it were F.A safe, I’d rate it 5/5 but since it isn’t , I give it a 4.5 which is almost perfect.
Krave Beauty is a brand I have a soft spot for even though I’ve only tried two of their products now; the cleanser and toner. I hope to get my hands on the rest of their line and some point.
