A few weeks ago , I attempted to install some loose chunky twists on my type 4 natural hair .
This post is part of my Fluffy’s Files series where I share any and everything I’m doing with my hair regardless of how it turns out. There is external pressure for our hair to look, feel and behave a certain way that is “socially acceptable”.
The truth is , my hair rarely turns out exactly as I had envisioned. I have learnt to accept whatever form Fluffy morphs into and work with it. Doing this has enabled me to embrace my hair and keep my hands out of it, both of which have contributed to my length retention ( indirectly).

Products used :
For this style, I used 3 products: Warm water, Sheth naturals curling creme and blue magic hair grease.
I am currently experimenting with hair grease on my natural hair and will be given a detailed update after a couple of months. If any of you regularly use grease on your hair , do share what your experience with it has been like.
Procedure
I started on freshly washed hair that was in 14 twists.
To each section, I misted some warm water and followed up with a generous amount of the Sheth Naturals creme .
Thereafter, I detangled with a wide toothed comb after a failed attempt at using a Denman brush.
I sealed in the moisture with a light coat of the blue magic hair grease.
I secured the roots by braiding them down, twisted the length of my hair loosely then twisted the ends firmly.

Pros
Installation was easy and it took under an hour which is amazing for me!
Cons
They did not last long . I pushed them to 4 days before having to re-twist some sections . My preference is that my twists last at least one week before they need a retouch.
I did not get a twist out from these twists. I ended up steaming my hair in the shower so that my hair would become a wearable fro. The results of this were the hairstyle I rocked for my YouTube live Q&A session.
The next time I do it , I’ll probably install twice the number of twists so that it isn’t as scalpy and can last a bit longer .
