My fitness updates seem to be getting shorter and not for a good reason. May was not perfect but I had a high hopes for June. I even made promises to myself in my last update.
June was rough in every way. My mind, body and soul demanded rest. Rest from the noise of social media and the rigid structure of my daily schedule . I sought and received comfort in my Lindt chocolate and buttered popcorn. Juice snuck back into my diet and I let it stay a while. Heck, I even had a glass or two of Fanta Passion. I gave up on the workout program early into the second week of June.
Wins
- I’ve been eating more complex carbs. Mainly oats and brown rice.
- I did 6 workouts in total this month. Not great but you know what, 6 is way more than zero!
- I’m doing better with my portions. Before, I’d serve too much and end up overeating.
- I’m eating when I’m hungry and stopping when full. #FitSharonWouldBeProud
Observations
I don’t feel guilty about how June went (which is growth on my part). However, I’ve made some observations:
- I would rather do any workout than none at all.
I put a lot of pressure on myself to stick to the program even after skipping a couple of workouts. Had I been more flexible, I’d have probably gotten in more workouts.
I picked my jump rope up again a couple of days ago and enjoyed every minute of it. We always take the path of least resistance. If jump rope, dancing , aerobics , walking or yoga is what will get me moving, then I’ll do it.
That said, I plan to re-do the program from start to finish so that I can maximize the benefits from it. It is such a thorough and well curated program. I will not let it go to waste. When I complete it (eventually), I will give y’all a full review.
- I will reduce the frequency of updates.
Monthly updates are great. They force me to reflect on my progress regularly. However, they might be repetitive and incomplete. I’d rather post an update when I have something new to share with you because I definitely want to keep you in the loop.
Future plans
Future Sharon remains my goal. That’s what I’m working on until it’s second nature. I laid out my actionable steps in my last post and they remain the same .
I am inspired by other content creators like Joy Kendi, Yummy Mummy and Sharon Mundia. They’ve all been sharing content about how they are getting and staying in shape.
The journey will have its ups and downs but I WILL NOT GIVE UP. I deserve optimal health (the extent to which it is in my control).
If you are reading this and you’re on a similar journey, you can do this. We can do this. Keep going.
Thank you so much for stopping by!
