In this post, I take you through my first wash day following the 30 day detox principles.

Products used
The Zuri INITIATIVE Shampoo
I used this as my clarifying shampoo.
It has sulfates and disodium EDTA which is a chelating agent (removes mineral build-up).
As I Am Long & Luxe Shampoo
This is a sulfate free shampoo that I used for my second wash.
As I Am Long & Luxe Conditioner
It had decent slip but nothing to write home about.
That said, these products smell DIVINE.
Saru Organics mousse
Use the code “MYKENYANPUFF” at checkout for 10% off the Saru Organics products.
It was my first time styling my hair with a mousse. I struggled with applying enough to my roots and ends after using too much on my first twist.
I installed 23 twists which I took out 3 days later. My hair felt soft with moderate definition.
Observations
I saved a lot of time
Wash day took me 1 hour 45 minutes from start to finish (including styling!)
I usually take anywhere from 4-6 hours ( onion juice, shampoo, deep condition, detangle, stretch overnight then style). However, I do this routine every 3-4 weeks so if you think about it, I didn’t cumulatively “save time.”
However, the fact that it is not a wash DAY makes a huge difference. I can wash my hair in the morning and go about my day!
My hair doesn’t shine naturally
This is not a bad thing. It is just something to get used to.
After using oils and butters long enough, you get used to the luster they add to your hair. Without that, my hair is not shiny.
Those were my key take-aways from week 1. Drop any questions you have about the detox down below.
